Why did God save you?

Why did God call us? Why did the gospel come to you and why did you believe? To be saved, yes! But this seems to be but half of the story.

We are saved from sin and the wrath of God. And we are saved to something – better yet someone.

Paul says it this way in 2 Thess. 2:14:

To this he called you through our gospel, so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

God’s purpose in saving us: so we could obtain/see/have/enjoy the glory of Jesus Christ.

Our reward is what Moses longed for and pleaded to see, “Show me your glory.” And now we get to see it (2 Cor. 3:18) and will see it forever (John 17:3).
